Words cannot describe the loss I am feeling. John was one of the kindest men I ever knew.

John's company is in good hands with Rich Hamilton and David Freer. John's work will continue! We will never forget the impact he has made on the wargaming industry.

I just saw the news. What a loss.

He was a kind man. He even let me work on a crazy game for him.

My first introduction to John was at Tiller-Con II. I think Rich Hamilton had introduced us in brief earlier on, but the "real" first introduction was when he had to tell me to pipe down at one point. (He was doing a presentation and I was on the other side of the room with other games. Yes, I have a voice like a bullhorn.) I also remember that he was stunned when he found out my profession.
John was always a joy to work with. We didn't have a great deal of direct contact (outside of TC2 and 3), but it was always fantastic. He always listened (even if he didn't agree) and I think it shows. I do remember the kind words he had about working with me after Midway, which has stuck with me to this day.
John will certainly missed. A true gentlemen in every good sense of the term.

John Tiller is why we are all here. Friendships forged. He was the great God of Wargaming as far as I'm concerned.

I purchased the Battleground games in 1999 and been addicted ever since. The games were groundbreaking in depth of detail and playability. I'm delighted that his company will continue, and no doubt thrive, under the direction of messrs Hamilton and Freer.

Condolences go out to his family and friends.
It's indeed a terrible loss for the community, but there is no doubt that his flag is carried on!

I started playing board games and miniatures when I was in college.

John Tiller brought this to computers- in an innovative way.

he gathered a great group of people around him that are outstanding.

I thank him and all of you for making this experience so good.

I think these games-especially the Napoleonic's- are outstanding.

thanks to John Tiller and all of you.

I'll drink to him tonight. Salut

Truly sorry to hear of this. None of this club would exist and for as long as it has without the games and the company & staff he led. Our hobby and the wider world are better for the games he gave us and the friendships we've formed are a benefit of that. I'm very appreciative of all he's done.

My sincerest condolences to his wife & family and to all those who work or have worked with him over the years. He'll certainly be honored & remembered for a longtime to come.

Yes, Scott... many of us would never have met without the Battleground and then the JTS games we enjoy playing so much. I am thinking of the hundreds of guys (and a lady or two) that joined our clubs and became life long friends.

Pray for Garry Cope too, guys. I read over on the CCC forum that Garry will not be back to the CCC. Was sad to hear that. God speed to you, Garry and your family.

I only discovered the JT games a few years ago and have missed all the glorious past you guys remember. Nevertheless I see John Tiller as a legend and I will try to keep his memory up by enjoying his designs.

RIP
