Opponents wanted for Waterloo, Eckmühl or another big scenario. After three years break, I'd have to bring on my new computer to run the other games.
From my side are 4 - 6 turns per week possible.
After my holiday, from 26.07. until 03.08. I would like to start a game. I like the great battles on large maps better, because then you have more choices. And often in unhistorical scenario, as the outcome is uncertain.
Perhaps there is indeed a game partner for a fictional scenario Waterloo on the map of Belgium. Which side, French or Allied me is no matter.

If interested here or via mail send me a message. mahusch at web.de
at least if I'm back from my vacation, from 03.August, I'll answer it.

P.S. my English is not so good, so I use google translator, so please be understanding of incorrect translations or sentence structure. ;-)

I'd be interested in Eckmuhl #13H-- have had the game for years but never played the large battle.

We may like to start a game. But since I currently have three games running, it may be that I can not respond to every day.

Am I right in assuming that you want to play the French side?
I propose to use any optional rules until Manual Defensive Fire and Partiel retreats.
Do you wish more rules to agreements?

Best wishes

Martin,

Yes, I would play French.

For optional rules, I would prefer that the following be OFF: manual defensive fire, rout limiting, optional fire results, partial retreats, optional melee results and multiple infantry melees.

I generally play with embedded melee, but can do without. Also, no more than 200 skirmishers/hex.

If this is agreeable let me know.

Regards,

Theron

Hi Theron,

I've never, the two features, optional fire results and optional melee results, deselected.

What effect does this have?
What changes, if they are taken in or out?

If we understand the same with "embeddet melee", march, fire, melee, march on and on fire, no problem.

Not more than 200 Skirmisher per hex is okay.

I'm in my mail be reached at "mahusch at web.de"

Best wishes
Martin

As I understand optional melee results and optional fire result they each perform the selected action several times and apply the average of the results. The general effect would be to greatly reduce the likelihood of a very good or very bad result to any given action -- outcomes of any action will thus be much more predictable. Total casualties in the end will be similar since they are the product of many different actions which will tend toward average effects, but individual actions may change significantly. For example, borderline melee attack (3 to 2 odds) will be much less likely to be victorious since it will need to be victorious in two out of three attempts for the average to be counted as a victory. This would tend to lead toward more cautious and predictable results which in my opinion make for a less interesting game -- reacting well to the unexpected and surprise setbacks is what separates the great from the average leader.

Yes you are correct regarding embedded melee. I apply it sector by sector rather than to the entire field at once.

Regards,
Theron

As per manual the optional melee and optional fire result are done not multiple times but just twice.
But yes that makes results more average.

Hi Theron,

okay, we can start the game.
I'll make my first move and email you.
Let me know in "mahusch at web.de", to which email address should I send the move.

Best wishes
Martin
