I have never noticed this before in other Napoleonic games.

situation........

two regiments attacking two skirmishers in a village hex.

1500 French in column vs 350 skirmishers.

the French drive the skirmishers out of the hex and both the attacker and skirmishers sustain losses.

Both the French and the skirmishers were disrupted.

I cannot remember ever seeing that before.

I would appreciate any comments........someone must have some comments regarding this situation.

thanks in advance.

Mh.... don't nail me on this but I see this too from time to time. It's not likely at all but even the low casualties suffered be meleeing skirmishers can cause the attacker to disorder. And 350 is not the usual low amount(225 or below to get the benefits of skirmishers likely lower casualties) that attacking columns have to face.

I have played lots of Leipzig and Waterloo and never saw it at all.

I am going to look at it and see if I can see what's what.

The instance I had was in RBR.

two French units approx 500 men each vs two 150 each skirmers.

both sides dispersed with casualties.

When there is just one skirmer attacked it always disperses when it receives casualties.

The attacking columns do not.

I did a few tests and it looks like if you have 200 or so skirmishers in a hex they will disperse attacking columns.

two or three skirmishers will do the trick.

good to know.........I am always learning something new with these games.

If above the 1/8 stacking limit skirmishers a treated differently and from your observations actions against such bigger stacks are also treated differently. Thanks for fining this out, skirmishing almost needs its own manual.

even though I play the games allot, I find it difficult finding an answer in the rules.

It's not like I don't try.......I do, but usually I am not successful.

I ran tests in Leipzig and RBR and confirmed the skirisher question.

The building vs village difference, I never knew there was a difference. I accidentally moved a cavalry unit into a "building" hex and wondered why it did not disrupt. After viewing the "TEC" chart, I realized the difference.

Bill Peters has been a wealth of knowledge to me personally. He has supplied tips and insight to me several times.

Please keep posts on this forum to relate to RBR. This should have been posted on the main forum.
