Would it be possible when the designers do the next patch for the 1809 games to consider reducing the Austrian movement rates for infantry. There are two reasons 1 The battalion mass moved slower than an ordinary column and 2 The Austrians when advancing moved slower than the French as they relied on their supply columns more.

The Battalion mass could do with beefing up against cavalry as it was designed to withstand charges.

On the Pz Campaign pages some one has been stitching the maps together to show the whole map area. This would be most useful for Eckmuhl and perhaps the next patch could include something like this.

Al - can you remember anyone on our Eckmuhl team that was terribly pro-French (meaning I agree with your viewpoint)? If anything all of the guys are good historians with maybe one or two exceptions and they have more than made up for their lack of knowledge in the last few years.

Thus, the charge that we are francophiles is not true. If anything we would say that the Peninsular Wars game is a great title to work on due to the dollar potential as many Brits like the subject and are heavily into gaming. I mean, if I had a choice I would have done Peninsular Wars from that perspective over Wagram or Eckmuhl.

However, the Austrians hadnt been modeled in the series and I wanted to see if we could get some changes made that would accurately depict their differences in the period.

Thus to answer the first question, yes, we talked about a French and Allied movement rate but it wasnt accepted at the time. Too much recoding and all that. Yes, the Austrians may have been slower marchers but we also dont have fatigue accumulation during movement and that might be something to ask for.

I also understand one thing - Masse could easily form square over a "regular" column of the period (realizing that there were some five to six variations on this name).

Right now I would prefer to concentrate on seeing new titles come out that are favorites with the MAJORITY of gamers - not just a few. And we held a poll a year and a half ago and the results were overwhelming towards changes like what you propose. Different movement rates for each nationality and so on.

Edited - Oh yes, I think that when the time comes the Scenario Designer for Peninsular Battles/Campaigns will find a Brit that has a very fair approach to the games. I found several German and French sources as well as Italian and British sources for the Eckmuhl and Wagram game. One of them (without my knowledge) went to the Sacile battlefield and while I was at home from work one day, sent me images of the battlefield. He was equipped with a digital camera, laptop, cell phone and ISP! Now that is what I call battlefield covereage! Many people contribute to our games. I tried to name as many as possible in the credits.

Dear Monsmoy,

Many individuals worldwide contribute to the developments of these games. I am happy to inform you that they are most civil and very articulate in expressing their opions which goes along way to being heard.

im always amazed why light infantry does not have more movement points than normal infantry?Have you guys ever seen how these guys march?Quite frankly i think you Yanks should get a Brit to work on any British Scenarios.ie Peninsula, you guys just dont have any idea
how the mind of a British Soldier works or worked!!Thats because you guys spent too much time kissing French ass in those days so your naturally biased against the Brits. Napoleon lost to Wellington not the Prussians and Blücher. What do you guys bring out?All the crap battles that only Krauts want to play.Hey bright sparks!!! British money and British guts beat Napoleon.British ingenuity and Industrial power beat Napoleon.British Intel, and nasty tricks beat Nappy, cmon give us Brits what we want,Hey wea re the only muthers that are supporting you in the world at this moment,

Mike,

Giving different movement rates to each army would require an engine change, and in the scope of the requested list of changes, that's not near the top. It might appear one day though.
