Map Editor

The attached program that you can download is an Editor for Corinth(version 1.01b) compatible MAP files. It is provided as is without any warranty or support. However you can send comments and suggestions to me at KennonLightfoot@yahoo.com and I may include them in a future update if there is sufficient interest in the application.

The setup provided will currently only work with Windows XP and requires that you install Dot.Net version 2.0 on your computer (you can do this through Windows Update if it isn't already on your computer).

Vista requires some special manual steps to get around the UAC and it's version of DirectX.

  1. Install Windows XP instead. Don't want to do that? Well then do the followings steps instead.
  2. Install DirectX9 from the Windows Update website. You should install the full SDK. This will probably make some other games work that haven't been too.
  3. Run the Setup for Map_Editor. You could try putting it in a different folder than Program Files but I haven't tried this to see if it will help avoid the next step. Odds are it will fail if you try to run it with a Com error.
  4. Manually register the TV3B65.dll that is in the Map_Editor's bin folder. There is a Register.bat file in the bin folder that executes the command but it will not run unless you are executing it as the Administrator. Unfortunately it is difficult to do this unless you have turned off the UAC. Assuming you haven't but are logged in as a User that has Administrative rights try this:
    1. From "Start" click the "Run" command.
    2. Enter "Cmd" into the run field.
    3. Don't execute it, instead look up at the top of the Start dialog you will see where it displayed "Cmd.exe" as the file it's going to run.
    4. Right click on this name and select "Run as Administrator" from the drop down menu.
    5. This will open a normal DOS Command window but you are actually an Administrator now.
    6. Navigate to the "Map_Editor\Bin" folder.
    7. Either run the Regsrv.exe on the TV3B65.dll or run the Batch file to register it.
    8. If all goes well you will get a message saying it is registered. Now Map_Editor will run.
