Décret Impérial - Grande Armée Order of Battle

 

Article I
The Grande Armée depicts the forces directly involved in the Battle of Austerlitz on the morning of the 5th December 1805, currently excluding those forces marching to but missing the actual battle, the addition of these units is possible in case the OOB needs to be expanded.

Article II
The various regiments, squadrons and battalions serve as holding place for officers.

Article III
The various artillery companies serve as initial holding ground for new officers but can also be used as regular holding ground for officers as long as that wouldn't occupy the last of such a unit within a corps.

Article IV
The various brigades currently serve no purpose except depicting the historical structure, future use is not barred.

Article V
The corps provides a Corps Commander (CC) as well as a Corps Chief of Staff (CCoS) position, while a division provides a Division Commander (DC) positions.

Article VI
The La Grande Armée formation serves as HQ and is holding ground for the various officers of the Command Staff, Administrative Staff and other assigned officers.

Article VII
The Grand Parc d'Artillerie serves as formation for officers who failed to muster or failed to return from a LoA.

Article VIII
The L’École Spéciale Impériale Militaire serves as holding ground for its Commandant and for Cadets.

Article IX
The Camp de Vétéran serves as holding ground for retired officers.

Article X
The Hôtel des Invalides serves as holding ground for inactive officers.

 

 

Décret Impérial - Issuance of Administrative points

 

Article I
Officers in command positions or on the Command or Administrative Staff of the HQ receive a monthly amount of administrative points (AP) based on their position. This is in recognition of their actions to keep the Grande Armée in fighting shape.

Article II
Officers outside of command positions can also received AP, but these are based on the importance of their actions for the Grande Armée and the club, which is to be judged by the CiC.

 

 

Décret Impérial - Promotion to the General Officer Ranks

 

Article I
Promotion beyond the rank of Général de Brigade will only occur if, besides the necessary OBD points, the officer also served in a certain command position (DC, CCoS, CC, CoS, CiC or any other position on the HQ). The requirements for the position and length of service in it rise with higher ranks.

Article II
The rank of Général de Division requires, besides 1000 OBD points, 12 months of service as DC or above or on the Command or Administrative Staff of the Grande Armée.

Article III
The rank of Général requires, besides 1400 OBD points, 24 months of service as CC or on the Command or Administrative Staff of the Grande Armée.

Article IV
The rank of Maréchal d'Empire requires, besides 2000 OBD points, 36 months of service as CC or on the Command Staff of the Grande Armée.


 

Décret Impérial - Officer Assignment

 

Article I
Initial officer assignment after graduation from the Military School is to be decide by the CiC. This first assignment will be in an artillery unit, from which the officer will be reassigned if has proven himself in the field by gaining the rank of Captain. Such reassignment will be made to the benefit of the Grande Armée but should where possible consider the wishes of the officer. Further changes in assignment can occur if they would mean a benefit to the Grande Armée, again if possible taking officers wishes into account.

Article II
All appointments to a commander position or the Command Staff respectively the Administrative Staff of the Grande Armée HQ are to be made by the CiC. The CiC should consider the opinions of his CoS and the respective superior commander and discuss any possible candidates with them prior to engaging with the candidate. All such appointed officers are at least once a year to be judged by the CiC regarding their yearly performance in fulfilling the requirements of the positions they serve in to ensure that the performance of the Grande Armée is kept on a high level.

Article III
Commander positions on corps level are Corps Commander (CC) and Corps Chief of Staff (CCoS). On division level it is the Division Commander (DC). The only other commander position is that of the Commandant de l'École Spéciale Impériale Militaire.

Article IV
The Grande Armée HQ is composed of officers either on the Command Staff or the Administrative Staff. The Command Staff consists at a minimum of the Commander in Chief (CiC) and the Chief of Staff (CoS), The Administrative Staff consists of any AdC (the number is not limited), and any other officers that conducts administrative work in an active position serving the needs of the Grande Armée. Note that the Commandant de l'École Spéciale Impériale Militaire is also assigned to the Grande Armée HQ formation but only for pure organizational & administrative matters, he is neither regarded part of the Command nor Administrative Staff.

Article V
Active Officers can be reassigned to the Réserve if they fulfill the necessary requirements (see Réserve webpage for details) and apply for reassignment to the Réserve.

Article VI
Officers will be reassignments on changes in their Officer Status. What the assignment will be depends on the status the officer currently has.
OOC officers are reassigned to the Grand Parc d'Artillerie for further handling but kept in the French forum group. Inactive officers are reassigned to the Hôtel des Invalides and moved to the French Inactive forum group. Officers going Active again from any other status are to be reassigned to their original position if possible, unless the Grande Armée would benefit more if such officer is assigned to a different position.

 

 

Décret Impérial - Officer Status

 

Article I
An officer is considered to be Active if he is in contact with his chain-of-command by conducting his quarterly musters.

Article II
An officer is considered Out-of-Contact (OOC) if he has not answered his muster calls for 2 consecutive quarters.

Article III
An OOC officer is considered Inactive if he has not answered his muster calls for 2 consecutive quarters while being in the Grand Parc d'Artillerie.

Article IV
An OOC officer is regarded as Active again if he starts to answer his muster calls again on a regular basis.

Article V
A Retired or Inactive officer is regarded as Active again if his application to be reactivated is granted.


 

Décret Impérial - Officer Applications

 

Article I
Active officer can apply for a Leave of Absence (LoA) from the Grande Armée. This means the officer will temporarily be deactivated in the DOR and will not be mustered until his LoA ends. This is the only change being applied to officer on LoA. The length of an LoA can be up to 1 year, but extensions can be granted if needed by contacting the CiC. Officers who's LoA have ended or want to return premature must report back to the CiC to be fully reactivated.

Article II
Active officer can apply for Retirement from the Grande Armée. This means the officer will be set inactive in the DOR and is moved to the Camp de Vétéran as he is not actively gaming anymore, he is also moved to the French Retired forum group. The officer is still part of the club & the French community, what allows him to participate & interact with other French & club members.

Article III
Retired & Inactive Officer can apply for duty again, and by this be made Active, at any time by making an application over the forum section "Le Département de la Guerre" or directly to the CiC.

Article IV
Active Officers can apply to be reassigned to the Réserve at any time by making an application to the CiC. Such applications are only to be conducted if the necessary requirements (see Réserve webpage for details) are fulfilled.


 

Décret Impérial - Officer Training

 

Article I
Training is mandatory for new members joining the Grande Armée.

Article II
The training is provided in 2 forms, a mandatory training split in 2 phases and an optional advanced training.
The mandatory training will prepare the member in phase 1 for gaming and in phase 2 for club matters, only absolving it successfully will allow joining the Grande Armée.
The optional advanced training will expand gaming & club matters further to improve the training level before combat in the field, this training is optional and can be taken or declined by the member.

Article III
Training games can be registered as long as the trainee has less then 100 OBD points. The game type Training will be used only inside the training process.

Article IV
Scoring for the game type Training is 0,5 OBD points & 0,5 AP per turn for the trainer. The trainee will get 1 OBD point per turn.

Article V
Every officer of the Grande Armée who has not graduated from the L’École Spéciale Impériale Militaire can apply for training to catch up the missing graduation.


 

Décret Impérial - Grande Armée Honorary Positions

 

Article I
Currently the Grande Armée has 1 honorary position, that of the Commandant en Chef de la Garde Impériale. It is no Commander nor Command & Administrative Staff HQ position, its purpose is solely that of honoring an officer.

Article II
The Commandant en Chef de la Garde Impériale is chosen each year on the 29th July. On that date the officer of the Garde Impériale that has the most VP will be Commandant en Chef de la Garde Impériale for 1 year.

Article I
The Grande Armée will maintain a website that includes but not concludes the following webpages:
- a page for the Grande Armée HQ depicting its OOB and listing the assignment of officers as well as their ranks, names, titles and awards. Besides that it also serves as entry page from which the other pages can be reached.
- a page for each Grande Armée Corps depicting its OOB and listing the assigned officers as well as their ranks, awards & titles.
- a page for the military school, giving details about the training procedures.
- a page for the awards used and there requirements as well as a depiction of them.
- a page for the ranks used and there requirements as well as a depiction of the ranks shoulder sleeve insignia.
- a page for the nobility titles used, listing the nobility titles and the needed requirements.
- a page for the Décrets of the Grande Armée, listing the general regulations within the Grande Armée that are either outside the scope of the club rules or detailing the club rules.
- a page for the duties of each position on the Command Staff, Administrative Staff and the Commanders positions.
- a page detailing the units of the Grande Armée with information on the page but also external links to provide insight of the various units of the Grande Armée.

Article II
The general layout of the Grande Armée website is determined by the CiC, necessary adjustments in details of any of the above mentioned webpages are also determined by the CiC. The implementation is to be done by the CE.


 

 

The Décrets Impérial provide a general but official statements of how certain things are handled within the Grande Armée. They list general regulations, procedures, arrangements, etc. within the Grande Armée that are either outside the scope of the club rules or give more detail to club rules. Where needed these are further specified within the officer duties (see page Tâches d'officier de la Grande Armée - Grande Armée Officer Duties).
