Reporting for muster, Sir. Things are a little busy here in Louisiana. I had to retire for medical reasons but am just as busy as we are readying our house for sale. Might go back to Tennessee.
It's been 100 degrees or close to it for the entire summer with a matching humidity. |

Congrats, Sir, and my thanks for handling the "grunt work" which I, for one, do not have the knack for. |

I agree with the Army of Tennessee for the above stated historical reasons and it doesn't hurt that I am from Tennessee originally. |

I too have to ask. That's not the impression I got from Forrest's statements at the time of the surrender at Ft. Donelson. |

As you seem to have a much superior knowledge here, can you give some details of Civil War tactics, how were assaults conducted and how was the defense setup? Often I hear that the at least initial assault tactics simply mirrored that of thew Napoleonic times: -close in -fire a volley -attack with ... |

I would like to put in a shameless plug for a book I wrote a number of years ago about my great-grandfather who served as a medical officer in the Army of Tennessee. It is a unique story and you can read the kindle version for free at Amazon.com. You can find it at: http://www.amazon.com/ARAGON-Chro... |

I'd like to see that. It's always about Gettysburg and the only thing that's been produced in my lifetime about the western theatre were "Gone with the Wind" and a very bad movie about Shiloh about 50 years ago. I've been waiting all my life for a decent movie on Shiloh and one on Chickama... |

If you've been to Gettysburg, then I would recommend the western battlefields. Put Shiloh at the top of your list, then the battlefields of the Atlanta campaign. If you have the time, though, I would add Vicksburg, Franklin, and Murfreesborough to the list. |
