After a couple years being out West as the Theater Commander, I have come home again to my much beloved ANV! The only Army I'll ever hang my sword from a tent pole with. :)

It was a fine time out West and we really gave it hard to Thomas & Sherman. It'll take 'em years to recover, so no need for me to rush back anytime soon.... ;)

It is good to see the many familiar names still floating around and I see that Stewart is still in charge, good man, good man....will have to get his a copy of his cabinet keys. :D

I am now taking up command of Hill's Light Division (2nd Division, II Corps). Looking forward to some quiet time....

Drinks on me!

General Ludwig,
Scott,

Well... I'll have one of those drinks! Are you paying for the good stuff from General Stiles dusty bottle? Or are we drinking the regular stuff?

You know Sir... I was in the Army of Northern Virginia too. I was even the Army commander at one time. But we didn't refer to this place as "The Clump of Trees Tavern" back then. I think that came into being when Den McBride could no longer handle his liquor. He'd get a funny look on his face... bolt through the back door... and then we'd hear the most horrible retching you'd ever heard. I'd swear the old boy was choking up a lung!

Anyway... that's when the boys got together and planted those trees out back for him. It would give him something to hold onto and give him a measure of privacy as people were riding by. Gosh, I can remember the looks on people's faces when they'd say... "That's the famous General McBride?" Thank goodness Rich Hamilton got him back onto the wagon and onto the straight and narrow!

How about another round, Scott? I could certainly come up with another story about the ANV in the old days!

Scott,

Yee Haw... the good stuff! We could be here ALL night! I don't think there's even locks on these doors... so even if General Stiles threw us out... we could always sneak back in!

Do you remember the days when were using these for medals and awards in the ANV?

I was trying to find our old Logo from the ANV main web page. I think I might still have it somewhere... well then... maybe not. I'll keep my eyes open for it!

Eh I paid Den to slip us copies of the original keys.... :D

I do recall all of that, no doubt Sir! :D I hated tracking field merits!

I also recall the terrible staff task of hand written and calculated OOB's.... :P

You were my DC for the first few months I was in the Club. Loved the III Corps. Loved it even more that it's leader was Tony Hill at the time....Hill's Corps always rang well with the Swamp Legion.....I used to be famous for peddling my Swamp Gut Rot Juice.... :D No I am lucky I can peddle a bike.... :D

I've actually still got all my old websites, my ANV site, III Corps site et al. We should create a category on the CSA side of the Club Server for "legacy sites".....I was debating doing that actually since I have access....

I think that would be pretty cool, Sir! You know... a walk down memory lane! Can't believe you still have them after all this time!

I have pretty much all the websites I ever created for every Club I've been in, in their final update when I last held whatever command they were for....I'll try to load up the ACWGC stuff next weekend...

That's pretty good. I've had a few hard drives crash and lost a lot of info over the years. Have an old external hard drive with some old stuff on it. But don't have the entire web pages saved... just a lot of old graphics.

That's cool you got the graphics though....yeah I used to not be that great with backing up on CD's, did the Club stuff a lot though. Then landed a number of jump drives and now I don't have an excuse, albeit I do need to do it soon for recent stuff....
