Post subject:  Startup Error

Hello,

I may be losing my CD drive. E: keeps giving me Startup Errors

Good new is I have a F: CD Drive.

Bad News is I do not know how to make the game play from that drive or make a single disk that all games play from.

Any help is much appreciated.

Paul,

You may have to uninstall your games and then re-install them from the F drive. I think because your initial install was on the E drive your games are looking for the CD there. I recently purchased HPS Gettysburg and accidently installed it from my F drive (which is my DVD drive). And it turned out that I couldn't play the game from the E drive but had to use the F. So I uninstalled and then re-installed using the E drive and it was fine.

Dale,

I think there is a way to trick it, but I cannot find the post from the past.

The simplest thing to do is to make your "F" Drive your "E" drive.

Right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
Under Computer Management, click Disk Management. In the right pane, you’ll see your drives listed. CD-ROM drives are listed at the bottom of the pane.
Right-click the drive or device you want to change, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths.
Click Change, click Assign the following drive letter, click the drive letter you want to assign, and then click OK.

You first have to assign your BAD drive to something like Drive "M", then assign the good drive to "E"

That corrects your game problems.

Once (or if) you replace your BAD drive, then reverse the process.
