Suh's Today I visited Gettysburg for the first time. From New Zealand to Gettysburg is some distance, with lots of time jammed on cattle class aircraft, but it was worth every uncomfortable minute. I have spent the last 30 or so years marching up the Chambersburg Pike (with SPI, TSR, TS and HPS) - being there gives a whole new persepctive on the game/battle. My guide for the day was Col Bill Spitz USA 1/3/AoP - for me he made the whole battle come alive - I can not thank him enough.[:)][:)] Thanks Bill, Lt Col Cam McOmish Lone Star Brigade (first to battle) Smith's Texas Division King Cotton Corps Army of Georgia CSA |

The pleasure was mine, Cam. It was a delight meeting you and spending the weekend together touring the battlefields. I will look forward to any and all future opportunities to get together. My friend, you got our of time just in time. We just had 4 to 5 inches of snow yesterday. A nice weather event to miss. [:D] I hope you had a good, safe journey home.[:)] Col. Cam, Don't you believe any of that nonsense you heard from that durned Yankee.....I jest know he tried to tell you the Yankees won that battle. I remember well that after we whupped their butts at that there clump of trees, Genril Lee decided that we had whupped them enough that week and that we should just mosey on back home....It was just a big raid after all, not like we wuz tryin to actually conquer em....We figured they'd leave us alone after the whuppin we put on them there....They did fer a while too....Then they brought that durned Grant over and we had to whup him too.....Anyway, I just wanted to make sure you had the story straight afore you went home....Regards, BG Hank Smith Army of Georgia Smith's Texas Division Smith's Corp |

Colonel McOmish: After just getting back from there on Noveber 21 I know you had a great visit. It takes a loyal soldier to march that distance and go into heavy fighting. Congratulations sir. Gen Dave Danner Army Commander Army of the Cumberland |
