Post subject: Captured Artillery - Conditions.

Gentlemen!

A li'll assistance/advice if'n Y'all please. [:D]

Having been out of the Loop regarding HPS for nigh on a Year, I am slowly getting back into the Thick of Things. I have been trying to keep abreast of the "Theoretical" nature of the Patched improvements to the Game Engine, but find that when it comes to putting these into practice . . . . my knowledge of the finer detail is hazy to say the least. [B)]

My current query relates to Artillery capture.

Once upon a time. . . .

when an unlimbered Battery was Meleed sucessfully, the Guns disappeared and the Results box gave You 'X' Guns captured, with the attached VP value added to the Score.

Now . . .

after a sucessful Melee, the Guns remain - now registered as an addition to Your Own and are Uncrewed.

Q.1. Can they be recrewed by the new Owner and moved/fired as an 'F' Grade Unit?

Q.2. If I spike 'em, I lose half their VP value AND must maintain a presence in that Hex to keep the VP points . . . is this correct?

Q.3. They still "Report" back to the original Owner, under Line of Sight conditions?

Q.4. Or do they go "blind" once I have

a) Captured 'em?
b) Recrewed 'em?
c) As long as I maintain a presence in that Hex?
d) They never go "blind"?

Any/all assistance/advice greatly appreciated ..... even from Yanicking Pankees!!! [:o)]

Thanks Chaps . . .
[8D]
Pat.

Hi,

I will try to answer your questions.

Q1-No. Currently they remain in place but can be rotated in place.
Also fired if occupied by a combat unit, at no penalty to the combat unit.

Q2-yes.

Q3-Essentially they revert to the original owner when unoccupied. As such, when they are 'recaptured' by new units, it is revealed. I'm told this has been fixed.

Q4-C

Q2-yes. (However, you CAN leave and come back for the VPs)

Q3-Essentially they revert to the original owner when unoccupied. As such, when they are 'recaptured' by new units, it is revealed. I'm told this has been fixed.

(They become uncrewed. They belong to nobody until recrewed by friendly troops, or reoccupied by the enemy. They should be blind, with the new title, if not, please make a report. Other games will be patched)

Hmmm, "duty expert," is that an official title?

Dear Patrick,

Another option is to take some of your artillery ammo and blow them up(by setting up one of your guns point blank to the rear and shooting them) this eliminates the Guns permanently and you do not have to occupy it to keep the points. It does take time, you have to secure the area and bring up your guns, turn the captured guns and extra artillery ammo; however, use of artillery ammo in this way may cost you later if you are not prudent.

Note a captured 2 gun battery at the end of the battle reverts back to your opponent as two Guns and at the origial quality for the next encounter. If you destroy them he only get one gun back.
a Quirk of the game engine.
