Post subject: | False Alarm Re: TS BG Chickamauga - problem solved |
Problem solved, however, others who have this game and have been running it OK on XP might want to know. The PROBLEM WAS that I was correct in my memory that if one uninstalls some TS and HPS games...SOMETIMES not all of the time....the registry entry does not get deleted. In the case of trying re-install TS BG Chickamauga I had to use "regedit" to delete the entry for "Talonsoft Chickamauga" in the "Software" choice of "Local User." After having done so the formerly "dead-acting" disk fired up immediately upon using any of the "install" regimens, and then I downloaded R. Hamilton's patch from his webpage (the updated TS Chicamauga .exe) and the game opened and played flawlessly. I would have just deleted my first post but I thought that some of you might benefit from what I learned. Also, if you do not know, it is not good to use "regedit" if you are not extremely careful in what you delete or change. So if you are faced with this and are not used to using regedit, be very very carefully entering the tree and not making any change that you know is the proper change to make.
