Post subject:  This is why we play the games

This Friday I am flying down to Mississippi to visit Dave Danner...An hour or so later Derald Riggs's plane will arrive....Then the three of us will scour the C.W. battlesites in the area for the next four days...In the past six years Dave and I have visited Gettysburg twice and Shiloh...A few years ago Derald and I met for the first time for the Corinth/Shiloh trip with Dave and a few other great guys from the club.....And now a few years later we are going to see each other again....Derald and I have been playing games for six years straight..Derald was my first opponent and we have been playing ever since...But the reason I am writing this is because I want to thank the gentlemen who started the club... The ACWGC has given me great friends...I just hope that everyone gets the oportunity to have the fun that I have and will enjoy....I really enjoy when we blatantly lie with a straight face to each other about how we are going to destroy each other in our games...and laugh and laugh.....Will tell ya all about the trip.......But pictures are gonna cost....

Yes, Sir! This Club has always been about people!

Of course, the gaming and the history and the lively banter are what drew us in the door. [:p]

I have many fond memories of the folks in the Club that I've had the priviledge to meet and interact with over the years. Some of them I've never met face to face but I've been enriched by the interaction. Some I have gotten to meet personally and I will NEVER forget how absolutely crazy there are!

Until recently, I'd lived in Lincoln, Nebraska so only got to meet some of you at the ACWGC Reunion that we had at Frederick, Maryland years ago and then at the TillerCon in Kansas City several years after that. (I did have Kevin Mainwaring showup in my hometown once for a visit as he was a truck driver!) Never did I dream I'd end up living in Maryland, right smack dab in the middle of the whole Eastern Theater. It's awesome!

Anyway, I echo the stuff that's been said here! And if'n you ever find yourself in the DC area on a trip or visiting... just give me a call... I've got a spare room here with a rock hard bed that's freezing in the winter and burning hot in the summer... but the price is right. (Oh yea... you'd have to put up with TWO CRAZY HULINSKY'S as my wife and I both live here too! That's more than most sane people can handle!)

Gentlemen this was a great personal event and wonderful fun. We laughed for 5 days and got to see everything within reason. The trip was topped off by a stunning tour of Jefferson Davis' boyhood home, in Woodville, Mississippi. Anyone who would like pictures may contact me direct. I salute my brothers--Derald Riggs and John Dragan.
