The new update is basically the 'official' version of the 1.034 Public Beta. At least, according to the folks I inquired with on the Matrix boards. CE Trog CPT, USA 6th Artillery Bde III Div/XVI Corps Army of the Tennessee E-Mail cetrog@comcast.net "My aim was to whip the rebels. To humble their pride. To follow them to their innermost recesses and to make them fear and dread us. War is cruelty! There is no use in trying to reform it. The crueler it is the sooner it will be over." -William Tecumseh Sherman- "I will be as harsh as truth, and uncompromising as justice... I am in earnest, I will not equivocate, I will not excuse, I will not retreat a single inch, and I will be heard." - William Lloyd Garrison - |

I would also like to point out that I own all three of the strategic ACW games sold at matrix. They all have their pluses and minuses but, I'd rate them from top to bottom as... 1. Gary Grigsby's War Between the States - Easily the most playable of the offerings there. The supply system is streamlined and the interface is very comfortable to use. My only complaint is the monthly turn based structure. As a 'Grigsby afficianado' I must admit that after playing his WWII Pacific Theatre games I was expecting (and wanting) a lot more extreme detail and micro management al'a War in the Pacific but the depth and breadth of this game is very good. 2. Ageod's American Civil War - A good offering, A little more clunky interface and, unfortunately if you want answers to a lot of questions regarding the game you need to go to Ageod's website. 3. Forge of Freedom - Not bad but the interface can be a little hard to get used to. Plus the technical research can really skew history. It doesn't take long before you can have a lot of regiments armed with Gatling Guns. I do like the fact that you can micro manage production and decide which regiments/batteries are armed with whatever weapons you have researched and produced.
