Gentlemen <salute>

A total of 17 battles have been registered as part of the Lieutenant's Cup, 11 of which have been concluded as of the end of the 3rd Qtr of 2009. It has been a hard fought affair, and the officers of each army have represented their academies with honor. My congratulations to each of them! The 6 battles still in progress will be carried into the next quarter.

A "Loving Cup" was designed for this competition, with the winning academy of each quarter taking possession for display at their headquarters. In the event of a tie for this, the first quarter of the competition, the cup was to be displayed here in the tavern. It was not a tie.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that ownership of the "Loving Cup" belongs to the Vicksburg Military Institute, edging out UMA by a score of 5.75 to 5.25. My congratulations to the VMI graduates, and also my highest regards to the Union officers who put up a heck of a scrap. I wish both the best of luck in the new quarter's competition.

Gents,
congratulations on the win boys! Neal, I'm sure we can go ahead and buy that specially carved Trophy Holder, since it isn't going anywhere for a long, long time!

Congratulations to all involved in this quarters Lt Cup. [:)]

Colonel;

I wouldn't be so sure about the ability of VMI to retain that cup. Things have a way of changing. [;)]

Gentlemen <salute>

Captain Gandt, it has been an honor to be associated with the competition. It is a success only because officers such as Captain Jack Waldron, yourself, and numerous others have been willing to represent their academies on the field of battle. A special thanks also to my Union counterpart, Major Mark van der Hagen, for his help in identifying Yankee opponents for the gentlemen from VMI.

Nick, I like the idea of a special trophy holder as long as it isn't a stuffed gator head retrieved from a Gettysburg battlefield.
