VMI Medal for Valor

Field Lieutenant Thomas Denney,
commanding the 2nd Brigade, 4th Division, II Corps of the Army of

the Mississippi
has earned this award for the completion of his first battle against
the Yankee invaders of the Southern homelands.

As a graduate of VMI this Officer has displayed the hard work, skill

and competence
and is a credit to this Institution, the Army of the Mississippi and

the Confederate States of America.
