Proposals to fly the Confederate flag in front of the State Capital in Richmond
and to place it on car license plates in Texas have Americans up in arms again:

Ironically, the Battle Flag of the Army of North Virgina: the classic red ensign
with the corner to corner blue cross studded with stars was never the official flag
of the Confederacy. That honor went to the "Stars and Bars". It was universally
detested then replaced by the "Stainless Banner": General Lee's personal battle flag.

Interestingly in the ANV the battle flag for the infantry was 52" square, for the
artillery was 38" square, and for the cavalry was 32" square. So, even within its
own army - there was no standard flag.

My own Bonnie Blue flag was the first flag flown above Confederate troops in action
at Fort Sumter.

Many regiments and some armies in the Confederacy fought under their own flags.

<salute!>

I fly the "Stars and Bars" along side the "Irish Brigade" battle flag off my deck and I am from New England.

I also fly "Old Glory" as well.
