The following zipped attachment contains the five bitmap files needed to load this new set of Petersburg 2D unit graphical modifications. It is important to know that there are two sets of 2DSymbols files that come with the game. This set is meant to replace the default set, not the "a" (alternate) set. Open the zip file to your desktop or protected place. Go first into the Info folder your Campaign Petersburg file and relabel the Leaderbox and Unitbox bitmap files as Leaderbox1.bmp and Unitbox1.bmp. This will preserve the original files for re-installation should you not prefer the mods. Copy and paste the new Leaderbox and Unitbox bitmap files into the Info folder. Then go into the Map Folder of your Campaign Petersburg file and relabel the 2DSymbols25, 2DSymbols50 and 2DSymbols100 bitmap files as 2DSymbols251.bmp, 2DSymbols501.bmp and 2DSymbols1001.bmp. This will preserve the original files for re-installation should you not prefer the mods. Copy and past the new 2DSymbols25, 2DSymbols50 and 2DSymbols100 bitmap files into the Map folder. When you are finished you should see three different sets of 2DSymbols files: the new default set, the "a" alternate set and the "1" former default set. These sets can rest within the folder without any disruption to the game. After you've had a chance to use these mods let me know how you liked them.

Hi, Joe, I always play in 2D but have always played with the default settings, which I assume are the 25, 50, 250. Looking at the overall battlefield, it is a lot easier to distinguish leaders and unit types with your new graphics, so I will keep them. |

These look great. They appear to work on the new versions of Antietam, Chancellorsville, and Peninsula as well. Nice job! |

Dale, "These look great. They appear to work on the new versions of Antietam, Chancellorsville, and Peninsula as well. Nice job!" You said "new version" is that different than updated? Are those purchased years ago from HPS different? Thanks, Alvin |

Hi........ I have loaded them into Antietam and I am seeing "blue" small square on Reb and Yank infantry units. I have loaded them into Antietam and I am seeing "yellow" small square on Reb and Yank cavalry units. Is that how it's supposed to look? |

Good Day Gen. Meyer, I have loaded the modifications and there is some very nice work there! I have installed and un-installed them a couple of times and each time I run the new modifications I do not have any leader markings on the leader chits. For the life of me I cannot figure out why. Thanks! -Randy |

Blue is the traditional infantry color, yellow the cavalry color, and red the artillery color. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniform_of_the_Union_Army |

Here are samples (Burgess Mill, Scenario 072) of the Petersburg 2D Unit Graphics Modifications shown in each viewing size. Note that these samples show most of the combat units as deployed. Extreme Zoom-Out View ![]() Zoom-Out View ![]() Normal View ![]() In each view the infantry blue, cavalry yellow and artillery red colors are present. Each color will slightly change in shade as a unit goes from column to line and back again. The supply icons for the EZOV and ZOV are symbolized for easy identification. This set was particularly designed for the Petersburg game. I have not loaded it into any of the presently upgraded sister games. The Confederate unit color base is a blend of gray and butternut to better reflect the mixed garb of the Southern soldier at this particular time. Leader units have a darker shade of the base color to make them more apparent. In the Zoom-Out and Normal Views the leader units are further distinguished with recognizable emblems: general officer collar wreaths for CSA leaders, and command staff hat wreaths for USA leaders. In the EZOV a white guidon is used for leaders of each side, while in the NV the guidon has been colorized. There is no guidon symbol for the ZOV. |
