The other day, Capt. "Cannon Fodder" Campbell, Gen. Miller and I were sitting in the Mason Dixon Tavern when they yelled, "Last Call!". Gen. Miller tried to stand up and leaned over on the coat rack. He tried to bid his farewells for the night saying, "See ya'll Bluebellies in battle tomorrow!". During his attempts to leave, Gen. Miller grabbed my Blue jacket and hat and proceeded to leave the establishment. Not realizing he took the wrong colors, he left the bar and mounted his horse in the wrong direction. ![]() The stragglers on the front porch claimed that he yelled to his horse to take him home, "Take me back to camp, Betsy". As he pulled on the horse's tail, Betsy turned and proceeded to trot in the opposite direct....heading straight to the Union camps. Shortly there after, Gen. Miller stumbled on some Union troops performing some evening drills just outside of camp. In his stoppered state, Gen. Miller tried to give the Yankee boys some directions. "Suh, straighten up them there lines, boys! Have you no pride?" The officer on hand quickly recognized his Southern accent and asked Gen. Miller, "Sir, what is your name and command?" At this point, Gen. Miller began to realize himself of his location and quickly slapped Betsy on the rear and yelled, "Camp, Betsy, quickly!". The horse took off towards the tavern and the general quickly disappeared from sight. This morning at reveille, a courier from the Southern camps arrived asking for an officer exchange for prisoner Gen. Miller. We tried to explain the story to him that we don't have Gen. Miller in captivity. My only advice to the courier was to inform their camp that if they see a Union officer riding his horse backwards towards their lines.....Don't Shoot!!! ![]() |

We tried to warn him, General. Our conscious is clear! He did leave a jug of his finest in case we have to give him a good send off, though. |

Lies. Flat out lies! Fake news. That's all we get from you Yankees, fake news. I happen to know Gen. Miller is laying, just as he has been all weekend, naked in the latrine. I am not sure what he did Friday night but if he ever sobers up he will have the devil to pay with Mrs. Miller when she sees what he has done to his uniform. Whoever it is you were drinking with last night could not have been General Miller. I suggest one of our enterprising young soldiers may have confiscated an officers uniform and passed himself off as a general in order to secure a weekend pass to visit one of the cat houses between our lines. Finding the lady otherwise "occupied" he likely retired to the bar where he then began his charade as General Miller. |

Brig. Gen. Meadows, sir. <salute> Rob, With all due respect sir, you must be referring to the southern REBB News version of the story or the constant spamming messages over the Telegraph lines from foreign meddlers. They indicated that Gen. Miller, after having a single shot of whisky (his liquid courage), heroically advanced into Yankee territory and nearly single handily captured a company of Blue Bellies during their drills; if only old Betsy hadn't misunderstood his command and swooped him up and returned him to the Rebel camp. I'm sure the South doesn't want this story getting out and tarnishing Gen. Miller's bid as being President Jeff Davis's V.P. running mate during his re-election bid. With all of the variations in the newspapers, the constant telegraph messages and the foreign interference with the both elections (North and South), its hard to tell which story is "True" anymore. ![]() |

D. Hampel wrote: the southern REBB News {exhale} I would watch that station.... wake up to Dixie and the Confederate flag raising at 5 AM... followed by a few episodes of The Virginian, then some Dukes of Hazzard before the morning talk shows with hosts Hank Williams Jr and Carrie Underwood... then some afternoon sports (cornhole or horseshoes) followed by a few BBQ cooking shows before the evening news from Richmond. Then round out the evening with a John Wayne movie and the Tonight Show with Jeff Foxworthy. I need to be in charge of programming for this station. Someone loan me a few hundred million and lets get this project started. |

Is there really a pay TV channel called REBB? It does not appear to be available in the deepest south. What Rob describes sounds like my kind of channel. |
