What does actor Jimmy Stewart, from the Christmas film “It’s A Wonderful Life”, have to do with the battle of Fredericksburg? His grandfather, Lt. Col. Samuel McCartney Jackson, was part of Meade’s Pennsylvania Division who broke through “Stonewall” Jackson’s line at Prospect Hill. Following a spirited Confederate counter-attack, he was the senior Union officer left who led the withdraw back to the main Federal line. http://www.fxbgtours.com/

I thought Jimmy Stewart had a farm in the Shenandoah Valley during the Civil War.
