Thomas's XIV Corps at Chickamauga contained twelve brigades. Seven were commanded by a "John." John Starkweather John King John Beatty John Connell John Croxton John Wilder John Turchin Throw in the Divisional Commander: John Brannan The Provost Guard commanded by: John Parkhurst And the Cavalry Escort under: John Barker They must have used a whole lotta nicknames for one another! These are the things I think about while waiting for my wife to finish getting ready so we can get dinner... |

And, in the morning, when anyone said, "I'm going to the john", that had to raise a lot of questions! ![]() |
