I can think of a few "odd couples" in the Civil War - Jeb Stuart and Stonewall Jackson immediately spring to mind. But also lesser known ones like Cleburne and Cheatham. They say opposites attract. Anyone else have any to throw out there? |

I reckon Jackson and Ewell would have been quite the pair - both clearly very eccentric, but then with Jackson's piety equally matched by Ewell's profanity (at least up until Ewell's wounding at Brawner's Farm). |

If the criteria be "high strung" and "low energy", Bragg and Polk would certainly qualify. |

I think being a fly on the wall for a conversation between Sherman and Forrest would have been most interesting. But Halleck and Sherman had a cozy friendship for many years. Not a likely duo. |
