Gentlemen,

I am happy to announce that Col. Karl McEntegart has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. Congrats, sir!

In a subsequent move, the CSA Command Staff has upped the requirement for using the Company Jet to only Major Generals and above

Officers of the Army of Tennessee,

You are cordially invited to a 'celebration bash' at the Mason Dixon Tavern in honour of my recent promotion. The tab will be covered by the Army credit card, which I only recently managed to retrieve from General McOmish . The MDT, as you are aware, is an Open Venue to both CSA and Union officers alike, however this function will be held in a private room and to which the Command Duty Officer has been instructed to deny entry to Union Officers. However, I have directed the CDO that Major General Mitch Johnson, my counterpart in the Union Army, be admitted should he so desire. I recently promised him some fine Tennessee bourbon, in honour of his recent promotion to 'Major General', and I should be only to delighted to host the AotT Commander. We are Officers and Gentlemen of the CSA and of the Army of Tennessee and all decorum and respect will therefore be extended by my command to the Union General.

Gentlemen, let us party and party long and hard !

Raid on Chambersburg by John Paul Strain

Brigadier General McEntegart, <Salute>

Well there Karl!! Congratulations Sir on your promotion into the General Officer Ranks!! A richly deserved honor for a fantastic member of this fine club, say nothing of the CSA!!

I hear General McOmish has pulled out all the stops for your party!! I think you may have retrieved his decoy Army credit card. I heard him mutter something about pies, hogs and grog until all pass out at muster!! 8) Which I hear will be done at 3:47am sharp by Colonel Campbell, who I don't think I have ever seen awake at that time, even on the march!! I also hear that General Kunz will NOT be the CDO!! Barely kept Nicodemus from eating half the giant oak table in the corner last time.

I will certainly be brining some of the the old Swamp Legion "juice", that is marked with General Den McBride's handwriting on it! That'll be a barn door blower, I have no doubt!! 8)

To your next promotion, granting we all survive your party!!

(PS - I know how much you like John Paul Strain's art.)

General Ludwig <Salute>

My deepest thanks for your congratulations Sir and the very fulsome oration also

I did indeed retrieve the Army Credit Card, for safekeeping, but I have no doubt General McOmish will rise to the occasion nonetheless.

Thank you very much for the fine print, I am indeed a huge fan of J.P. Strain's art since you previously drew it to my attention. It is a magnificent piece.

(PS I am much impressed you remembered my liking for Mr. Strains works)

I am glad to hear you were able to retrieve the Army Credit Card back from him! I heard nervous mutterings were noted coming from the Army Pay Office about paying off such a large sum....

Figured you'd like this piece by him. He does something with water that's really amazing/cool. It's a feature in a lot of his works. This one I liked the fall setting too and I didn't see prior that Stuart's horse looking right at you!

Usually if someone I post with often, mentions liking an artist I'm familiar with, I try to remember that.

Now I'm curious as to which horse of Stuart's this would be in the painting!! 8)

General Ludwig <salute>

My thanks once again for your impressive memory.

That print is quite outstanding and I am no connoisseur of art I assure you. The Autumnal russet of the trees, the reflections in the water and mists rising, the sheen on the gun barrel and the red lining of Stuart's cape all make for not only a vibrant piece but a scene full of life and character and yet, strangely, there is a peacefulness portrayed..........beauty is in the eye of the beholder Sir.

<Salute> Sir,
