Today is the day Meade assumed command of the Army of the Potomac, outside of Frederick, Maryland. He got to work right away and over the next few days the armies would move into place. By the 30th he would have issued the Pipe Creek Circular, a often overlooked but important document of the campaign. One of these days, I'll go find the marker for the spot where he assumed command.
