I recently joined the Club. Name is James King. I am 70 years old, retired lawyer in San Diego. My ACW claim-to-fame is that I was a reenactor in the movie "Gettysburg". Mostly 20th Maine, but a little bit 15th Ala. and XI Corps first day. The way they cut the film I am literally shooting at myself on Little Round Top. I was a member of this club back in 1998, but life (and law) got in the way. Now I have time to pursue this. I stumbled upon a game engine called Strategic Command. They have scenarios going back to the Mexican-American war, a lot of Civil War stuff, Franco-Prussian war, some great WWI and WWII campaigns. If anyone wants an SC game, let me know. I have Strategic Command Civil War. It's okay but the AI is very predictable after a few plays. I've only played as the CSA and after playing out the whole war several times I won convincingly every time. It was then just a matter of how quicky I could bring the war to an end by subduing the Yankee invader through incursions into their territory. I suspect playing as the Union would be very easy indeed. Human versus Human should be an easy win for the Union every time. The WDS games are better although their AI is also poor. Fortunately, many WDS scenarios are better balanced and you have the ACWGC to provide you with real opponents. |

![]() Chamberlain and Staff by Mort Künstler 1st Lieutenant King, <Salute> Glad to have you back in the Club, James! That is pretty cool your reenactor appearances in Gettysburg! When did they show the XI Corps? Was it one of the short scenes that shows the Union collapse? Alas, I do not own Strategic Command, but if I do pick it up, I'll let you know. ![]() |
