Post subject: | Why You Need to Register Your Games |
Club Members, There have been over 16,000 registered battles at our Department of Records between Union Members playing as the Federals and Confederate Members playing as the Rebels. As of April 1, 2025, the difference in victories for the two sides is just 221. This means the winning percentage of the two sides is within 1% of each other! That is incredible and a testament to how even these games are designed to be. Altogether we have over 23,000 registered games of all types within our Department of Records. I have heard Members in the past comment that they do not register their games because they don’t think anyone cares about the records, or that they don’t need the points, or that they simply don’t think it is important. That is simply not so. Even if you aren’t interested in the points you gain for your own dossier, you should take an interest in the nearly 30-year battle between the two sides of this Club. The overall advantage in victories has swung back and forth a few times and will inevitably swing back and forth in the future as well. Whether you win or lose, you need to make sure that the games you play are correctly registered within the Department of Records. You are helping to create a battle record that will last as long as this Club is active and operational – which will hopefully be for many years to come. Another reason to register your games is because WDS, the people who design these games, are watching and taking an active interest in our results. Where else can they find such a large database of their games to examine the results of their labor? They can use our records to examine scenario and game results and then determine if, maybe, they need to address any gameplay issues in the future. Sharing this information with WDS helps us all by giving them more data than they ever anticipated to judge the balance of their games and scenarios. There is absolutely no downside to registering your games correctly each and every time you play a PBEM game. Remember, only one of the participants needs to register the completed game in the new Department of Records. By the end of 2026 we should be nearing our 25,000th game recorded in our records department! Keep gaming, keep having fun, and keep using the Department of Records to register your games. |
