My Wife: Why do you need such a giant American flag? Me: There's no such thing as an American flag that's too large. Wife: What are you even going to do with it? Me: Oh, I have plans! Attachment: IMG_7502.JPEG [ 1.06 MiB | Viewed 37 times ] I still have more decorating to do before the 4th of July but I am getting there. Kind of wishing I got a bigger flag (it is 10 x 6) but I think the wife would have objected to having the entire porch covered. How unpatriotic of her ![]() |

General Strickler <Salute> Sir, Knowing that wives always know best, and the fact that she outranks you too, I still think your efforts are highly commendable! It looks great! Happy Fourth! |

Whenever I see pictures from America I always note the abundance of flags. It is a rare thing here. The man across from me used to fly a flag but he moved out last year and I do not know of any flags being displayed (apart from public buildings) in the entire town of about 90,000 people. There are probably a couple that I haven't come across, but it is a rare thing. I do envy your Fourth of July celebrations as public access to fireworks here was banned last century. At least I got to enjoy 'cracker night' in my youth (celebrated during the Queen's Birthday long weekend [not her actual birthday, LOL]). I really enjoyed blowing things up, firing off (wildly inaccurate) rockets and setting off a range of other fireworks. We now have the King's Birthday long weekend at the same time (second weekend in June). It's not his actual birthday either, and still no fireworks which is a bit sad. |
