You will find opponents who will play with those options, but I would not be one of them. The most particular choices that would chase me away are not having rout limiting and EFOW selected, and that would be regardless of whether I am playing as the Union or Confederate commander. One thing that I would like to point out in your house rules is that you are actually choosing for melee in column not being allowed except for ******** (whatever your exceptions are). Your version is currently worded like melee in column is a standard club rule and it is not unless you and your opponent agree to it as a house rule. |

GEN Simms Thank you for your input. 1. As to Melee in Column. I am not opposed to No restrictions on melee in Column however for those that are that is my thought on the restrictions, IF my opponent wants them 2.EFOW vs FOW would a battery move to a position on the Battlefield without first sending a Captain to assess the fields of fire first? or a column march along a road without trying to see if his movement would be observed? IN addition, how can I be sure my opponent is not opening a "LOS" game in order to seek an advantage? 3. ROUT LIMIT ON VS OFF these are my thoughts ON PROS: Less routs, troops can spread out in ling single file lines and with the +1-flank modifier's fight like Spartans, less thought in your plan because you have a rule that allows you to not worry about routs as much. CONS Leads to very high Fatigue levels, before a rout, takes longer to recover, leads to more static play, allows Brigades to deploy all regiments in line without thought to a reserve. Players say it just a game and not a historical recreation . Then why is it even called a Civil War game if it is not trying to get the players to fight Civil War style. Just my thoughts thanks for the Post reply |
