Just received my HPS games Corinth and Gettysburg, Now I dont have unlimited time so I have been trying to get a feel for the HPS games. ( I already LOVE the BG games). It seems that everybody loves the concepts of HPS but those that actually have been intensly playing them see rather fatal flaws,( and by these I mean tacics that do not match actual Civil War realities). To a certain extent a lot is just player preference but some of these critisims are coming from long time players. Is there any concensus or semi-concensus? Major General Tony Best AOJ |

A lot has to do with player preference, as I've read a lot on these boards that I don't agree with. But, that's the beauty of the games, you can choose how you play them by using the various optional rules. LGen. Hamilton II Corps ANV, CSA |

To ask for a consensus in the ACWGC seems a contradiction in terms to me. [:p] Gen. Walter, USA AoS / War College |

Tony, I agree with Rich. HPS is really flexible so that you can set them to play just like the BG games or with the features incorporated since that time. Be SURE and read General Walter's explanations on the settings of ADF and MDF in the "Yankee's are Scum" topic. err...Panzer Armee....whatever..?? [:D] His explanations are really good in clarifying the different settings. Let me know when you are ready for a match at the 007 Gettysburg scenario![}:)] Lt. Gen. I think the consensus is in...A lot of people playing HPS, and only a few vocal people describing it's "fatal flaws". The HPS Games, especially Gettysburg, are hands down the best civil war games around. Wrap up any BG games you have going, because you're going to need your time for a much better gaming experience.[:D] Maj. Gen. Beno Pickett's Division, I Corps, ANV |
