Post subject: | Signal Corps - Request for articles of interest |
Gentlemen of the Blue and the Grey, The newly organized Signal Corps / Dept. of Communications is seeking a few good men to volunteer their writing prowess for the service of the club and enlightenment of their peers. As an occasional part of the soon to be produced monthly club update newsletter, we would like to include articles of interest to the club as they become available. The newsletter will not be built around these articles, but rather will include them when available as an added feature. Those willing to submit can submit one per lifetime, one per year, one per month, etc – there is no quota or limit. The only stipulation would be that the subject be of interest to the members of the club and related in some way to the club. Possible topics could include: A biography of a soldier or leader from the war (possibly an ancestor?) An account of a battle or skirmish of interest Histories of the weapons or equipment used during the war (E.g. - Just what are those Whithworth guns, anyway?) News about new games or events such as Tillercon (article in the works) Interviews with game designers or club leaders/founders, etc. Experiences at a recent reenactment or an account of a Civil War battlefield tour vacation, etc. The possibilities abound. If you have an idea but are unsure, feel free to email myself or Rich Hamilton and we will be glad to review the subject or offer suggestions. Don’t feel like you write well enough to want other people to read something? Maybe someone else would be willing to help collaborate/edit your information into a more polished form. Also, on a slightly unrelated note, we are creating an FAQ forum as a central location to list important FAQ related information here on the board – it is not intended to replace any such information on army related or personal sites, simply to offer a central location that might be easier for club members – especially new club members – to locate quickly. If you have any FAQ related articles on a personal or army related site you feel would be helpful to the board, please contact one of the FAQ board administrators. (We might also be contacting some of you that run some of the club sites for existing articles as well…) Also, if there are any topics any of you feel should be included in the FAQ, feel free to make those suggestions to us – I’m sure we’ll probably miss something along the way. Some (most?) of the information will be a duplication of info available at West Point or VMI, for example, but simply presented here on the boards for quick access to all. Don’t worry, the FAQ board will NOT include any top secret information from either side – only materiel relevant to both sides equally so as to give no advantage or disadvantage to either. Regards, Lt. Col. Alan Lynn 3/4/II, AoA Signal Corps |
