If you would be interested in attending an ACWGC Conference held Down South in 2006 then this thread is for you. Voice your opinion as to when and where you would like for it to be held. WOULD YOU POSSIBLY ATTEND: Yes or No WHEN: Give month(s) that you would prefer for it to be held WHERE: If I’m going to do it then you are restricted to the following battlefield locations or any other within the same geographical area that I do not name (I live in Huntsville, AL): 1 - Franklin, TN (suburb of Nashville) 2 - Murfreesboro, TN (suburb of Nashville) 3 - Chattanooga, TN (Chickamauga right around the corner) 4 - Corinth, MS (Shiloh is about 30 miles away) (The following locations would be logistical challenges for me due to the distance but I might would do it at these locations if there was enough solid interest) 5 - Vicksburg, MS 6 - Atlanta, GA 7 - Mobile, AL Col Ned Simms 2/VI/AoS Blood 'n Guts hisself, a land lovin' pirate. Show me some arty tubes and we'll charge 'em. |

I would say Murfreesboro, TN. It is a small town, yet it sits on a major Interstate, and is close by a batle site in town, and a couple down the way. LT. GEN. Tony Malone Commander Army of Mississippi "Do your duty in all things, You can never do more, You should never wish to do less". |

Atlanta or Mobile are easiest for me to get to, with Chatanooga being third. Beyond that, Murfeesboro and Franklin are both another day's drive out of the way from North Florida... though I would love to visit Shiloh - it's one of the few major battlefields I've yet to be able to visit. And just for symantics, I don't consider Tennessee to be "Down South" - it is "Up South" from us'n's here in Hurricane Land, I mean, Florida. [8D] Regards, Lt. Col. Alan Lynn 3rd Battery "Jacksonville Greys" 4th Div, II Corps, AoA God bless <>< |

Col. Simms, Since Tiller Con II won't be until 2007, I would be in favor of an ACWGC get-together next year. ("I would possibly attend.") My first vote would be for Corinth. (I visited Shiloh with the Boy Scouts YEARS ago. It would mean so much more to me now!). Any of the Tennessee battlefields would be good, too. (Is Atlanta still there? I thought Sherman burned it!? I'm a probable attender if it was in late May, any time in June, or early July (funny how I've arranged my sabbattical during baseball season. WOO HOO!!). Preference to somewhere in Tennessee so I can combine it with other visiting while I'm home, but can probably work any of them. But if we meet in Atlanta, it'd better be while the Braves are in town! Watching over the internet is OK, but I do feel deprived over here... [:)] Maj Gen Sean Turner 3rd Cavalry Division, "Yankee Thrasher" I Corps Army of Alabama |

Col. Simms: Anywhere we go somebody has to drive! Tennessee does seem the logical choice because it is the most central of the "southern" states. I like the idea of Chattanoga because you could visit SE on the Blue & Gray trail to get the Atlanta campaign; go NE to Knoxville to get Longstreet's folly, go NW Stone River and Franklin campaign, and W to Shilho. All take some driving, but hey- ya want to visit- ya got to get there! Brig Gen John Longstreet Galveston Rifles 1/5/I/AoG |

Yes I would like to attend. Anytime, except April or October due to inventory at work those months. Any TN or MS battlefield would be good, I am in Arkansas, but would consider travelling to where ever I need to, assuming I can convince the wife, so good shopping would be a plus in my favor!!![:D] Lt.
