Rich, Lots of great andidotes! How about this one: A Reb and a Yank picket stop and trade coffee and tobacco over a creek near Fredericksberg. The Reb asks the Yank, "Say Billie, what ya fightin' this war for?" The Yank says, "$14 a month!" "Damn," the Reb says, "I'm only gettin' 12." That's one, I'm sure everybody has a favorite they can pitch in to help you out! Brig Gen John Longstreet Galveston Rifles 1/5/I/AoG |

Corporal Bates was to be given the Medal of Honor by President Lincoln. An aide introduced him and his family to the president: "Mr President, this is Corporal Bates, his wife Mrs Bates, and his son, Master Bates." To which the president asked: "Does he suck his thumb too?" BGen, 2/XIX/AoS |

Hi, Rich, One old Civil War joke was the one about General Pope, who, when brought east after capturing Island #10, told the eastern troops that in the West, they were used to seeing the backs of their enemies and that henceforth his headquarters would be in the saddle. Which led the troops to comment that Pope had his headquarters where his hindquarters ought to be. MG Mike Mihalik 1/III/AoMiss/CSA |
