Post subject:  Club Rule Revisions

Gentlemen,

Club President Pierre Desruisseaux has appointed a sub-committee of the Cabinet to review the club rules and propose clarifications and, where necessary, rewrites. We've started looking through the current rules and working on ideas, but I wanted to solicit input from the membership.

Our plan is to do as little re-writing of the rules as we possibly can this time through -- the goal is to clarify what is already there, and only to change things that absolutely need to be changed.

If you have run across a club rule you didn't understand, or contradictory (or even <i>seemingly </i>contradictory) rules, or if you have other ideas for rules clarification, I'd like to hear them.

Of course, I can't promise we will implement every suggestion, but we also know there are a lot of great ideas out there in the general membership and we'd like to hear them.

In case you've misplaced your copy of the club rules, you can follow this link to the current set: http://www.wargame.ch/wc/acw/acwrules.htm

Please send your thoughts to my tent. Your couriers should be able to locate me at dwmallo01-at-yahoo.com (replacing the -at- with '@').

I appreciate your help in this matter.

Sir,

Battle field Code of Conduct Rule d, about leaving the field. Currently states can't leave unless condition of scenario at a two step decrease in victroy level penelty. I have heard it is oky to leave as long as not engaged with the enemy. HPS Campaign games changed the land scape a little. Please give this rule re-consideration.

I think that rule was intended for single battles? I've played opponents in campaigns that were getting chewed up and I said ok to them leaving the field to fight in the next battle.
I think the original intent was for things like 3-day Getty where the rebs could kick butt the first day and then disappear off the map that night - a plausable action but in game terms with most of the Union yet to arrive it kills any chance they'd have to win.
Another rule change could be for cheaper beer prices at promotion parties! :)

General Schlitte,

Actually, I was thinking just the other way around -- if we charged actual OBD points for drinks, accolades would be harder to come by and would mean more, wouldn't they [;)]
