The youngest member I have run across int he various clubs has been 18, so your son would gain that title! Bring him in, very good to get new blood...and tell him to invite his friends.

We've ordered two kegs of sasparilla over at Rosie's just in case...

Here's to hoping he has a nice, normal pet like a hamster or a dog instead of a moose...[:D]

The door up north is indeed open for you, John. We'll help you get promoted so you outrank your Dad (won't take long!) and we have the resources at WEst Point and the War College to make sure you can BEAT your Dad (won't be too tough, I've played with him!)[:D]

One of the good things about our war games is that there is no age limit and, for that matter, unless someone responds to a question of "How old are you?", no one really knows.

We have had father/son members before; the Marchese's comes to mind and I can remember a couple sets of brothers that were/are members.

So, make it a family affair and join whichever side suits you.

It is a good hobby that makes you think, reason and logically approach the situations. (That is a GOOD thing, BTW.)[;)]

Hi John! (and Larry!) [:D]

One reason that We Southern Gentlemen demur from canvassing prospective New Members is because We like to give the Yankees their Head. We like to observe their Snake-Oil Salesman approach and can easily judge a Candidate's worth, by his reaction to Their slithery entreaties and smooth talkin', Hood-winking, nefarious Bunk! If Ye fall fer it . . . Ye shure ain't a Gentleman and Ye don't belong in the South!!!! [:p]

True - We Confederates don't wash much (too busy Yank-killin'), we are threadbare in Uniform ( fancy Buttons can't kill a Yankee!) and we forego shoes - mosta the time, (we're made of tougher stuff than Northern Officers - with their Slippers, Pipes and watery Whiskey on Ice!)

But we are clad in the Finest Mantle of them all . . . . the Justice of Our Cause and the Honour in our Grit-lined Hearts.

Whatchya wanna be John . . . a Gentleman Soldier or a foppish, fey, whimpish, carpetbagger? [:o)]

Giving a Yankee his Head (usually served on a Plate - Fries are optional) . . . is Our Greatest Satisfaction! [8D]

Best of Luck with Your Choice John. [:)]

Lt. Cameron,

You may be the current youngest member. I recall a young cadet several years back who is now your corps commander, Gen Zamis. Don't recall his exact age but I'm fairly certain he was in his teens when he reported to West Point.

As you can see from the "Passing in Review/Grand Parade" posts, all those Union victories have been thinning the Rebel ranks it seems![:D]

Either that or they're off looking for shoes...

John, it would be my privilege to see that you receive the finest training that the Vicksburg Military Institute can provide, and excepting the Honorable General Moose, you can bunk where your Father did when in attendance in these Hallowed Halls! Nothing better than following in the footsteps of a great Rebel Officer!

Lt. Notso & Master John,

As an old girlfriend of mine once said, "Age is mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." (We won't go any further there.)

Actually, my wife (who is 2+ years older than I am) still thinks I act like a little kid. (But what do women know [:D]?)

As has been mentioned, you don't have to reveal your age online unless you want to. On the other hand, you don't have to tell your friends at school you're a member of the online American Civil War Gaming Club, either [:D]! (Actually, it might be better if you didn't. I always find it takes a lo-o-ong time to try and explain to people exactly what it is, what it is we do, and why we do it.)

As for which side to join, that depends on how tough you think you are. If you want to to face the finest, most skilled opponents -- join the Yanks!

Seriously, I hope you deicde to fall in with us.

Oh, and by the way -- I am NOT the youngest member of the club [8D] !

Your humble servant,
Gen 'Dee Dubya' Mallory

John,

The SOUTH would love to have you join us. Being from the Great State of South Carolina, where nothing could be FINER. I would like to welcome you to HELP us beat those yellow bellies - blue coats.

You have a Great father (Lt. Quick, don't get the BIG head). Whatever your decision is, I know you will be great at it? Hope it is the right one (THE SOUTH)...lol

John,

You should join the Confederates and take General Kunz up on his offer to be your instructor at VMI. You should also join the Confederates so you can fight along side your Dad and not against him. There's nothing worse than "A House Divided"

Respectfully yours,

Major John Newton
