Post subject: | Command Orders |
Just curious if anyone else feels this way about what I'm about to describe. Now all of this is meant to just be an example. Your General Lee. Your currently at your command tent located at the Lutherian Seminary.(hex 76,54) It's 7am. You have decided to order 1st Corps to attack toward Round Top. Longstreet himself is located at the William Douglass house.(hex 59,94). In reality, it should take a dispatch rider to reach 1st Corps HQ almost an hour. Then 1st Corps staff would have to send out riders to the various divsional commands and then so on. But in game terms, this attack can be carried out immediately. An improvement in the way command is set up in this game would be the greatest improvement that could be done to this series. How does anyone else feel on this subjec? It has been discussed many, many times. The closest to seeing this is by playing on of the moderated games, where you are assigned to BE Lee or Longstreet or Hooker, etc and, unless you are in the same hex, there is a distance delay in orders. Orders may be lost, they may be mis-interpreted or maybe even ignored. Otherwise, we have the games as they are. Ernie Sands General, Commanding, Army of Ohio ![]() ACWGC Cabinet member |

There was a company called the Gamers that published some civil war and ww2 games that used this type of order system. And this was just for a cardboard cutout table-top game. I have read here in the forum that hps was looking to tweek the game engine. Maybe a command system that is based in reality could be something that is looked at.

Captain Ken Turner "Dixie" Battalion "Guns of the Alamo" III Corps Artillery Army of Alabama |
