Free Speech.

Let the 30 of them have their say and then fade away. Idiot speech will be recognized as idiot speech.

SIGH!

But, it just supports their ignorance and shows people what they are about.

Freedom of speech, like freedom itself, is not free and these events are all a part of the freedom process.

This event and others like it are allowed BECAUSE of that freedom of speech and freedom in general.

No doubt it must be allowed, the more offensive the speech, the more important it is to allow it.

That said, there should have been counter-protesters there in the Uniform of the 20th Maine to make a point of what Gettysburg really means.

"Confederate re-enactors from Virginia protested the Klan's adoption of the Confederate battle flag as an emblem and its claim to be a continuance of the Confederate cause."

Couldn't have put it better myself. Since they are no longer welcome in Pulaski,Tenn. or anywhere in the South they take their freakshow North? Pure stupidity on full display is all this is.

As sad as this is, it is things like this that has made the battle flag be looked upon as meaning something it never was meant to mean. This feeds into the extreemists on both sides. The majority of us here are historians in some sense or another, we play the games, but to many it is another part of our love of history. It is up to us and others to make sure people know the truth.

It can only be hoped that this Freedom of Speech will serve to show more right minded people what pond life the KKK and such organisations are. As they old saying goes "give them enough rope and they will hang themselves". Their thirst for publicity will only show their bigoted outlook on life and hopefully work against them.

Very sad indeed, and to hear or read about it from another country's newspaper.[V]
