So whats your answer? For consideration I will throw out: Saving Private Ryan Bridge of the River Kwai Sands of Iwo Jima Mister Roberts Schindler's List The Great Dictator The Big Red One Of all the WW2 Movies I am going to go with Sands of Iwo Jima. John Wayne is still the greatest "guy" actor of all time and that movie was always my favorite as a kid. The older I get the more I appreciate its quieter moments and the storyline beyond simply a rifle squad going up a hill. Saving Private Ryan is fantastic but I kinda wish that someone like Robert Mitchum, Gregory Peck, or William Holden was around, and in their prime, to play the lead in it. |

here are 7 really authentic WWII movies Walk in the Sun......Dana Andrews Battleground...Van Johnson Attack...Jack Palance 30 Seconds over Tokyo......Van Johnson and Spencer Tracy Tora Tora Tora....... The Desert Fox.....James Mason From Here to Eternity........Burt Lancaster all classics...........and I own them all.......and then some.....lol |

For authentic WWII equipment, Kelly's Heros. Far fetched story but highly entertaining. And the Germans speak German with no sub titles. ![]() |
