Hi,

I'm a new member but long time player of GGWBTS. I'd be keen on finding a CSA opponent. I prefer historical leaders with Fog of War on.

Thanks

Jon

Did your GGWBTS CSA trainee not graduate? If he did and is keen I could prob take him on in a couple of weeks.

I'm not sure if he graduated, but I'm graduating this weekend. I should be ready for a game in a week or two.

Hey Jon,

I've only played the AI on WBTS, but I'd be willing to try a human opponent. You can email me at redz66av@gmail.com.

James

This Graduate was me I believe, I apologize for not being able to respond. I live about 5-6 months in Costa Rica without regular access to the internet and about 1-3 months in Florida with. I happened to graduate as I was heading down south of the border.

I would be most eager to play you a game now if you have the time. I am only in Florida for about a month this trip, but can average at least a turn a day I think, maybe two. If we can't finish within a month, we may be able to have our senior officers determine a winner by judging how well we have done compared to our historical counterparts. I also prefer Historical leaders and Fog of War, though I have never played GGWBTS with an experienced opponent via PBEM.

If you are interested my email is daganmichael@hotmail.com

Sincere Regards,

Lt. Longmire, I am inexperienced with WBTS, played against AI a few times years ago. If you don't mind a slow pace and aren't too far ahead of this novice, maybe we could arrange a game. Note that the thread you responded to is some eight years old. WBTS isn't very popular here at ACWGC, people are playing the Tiller Battleground games. I'm playing them too and getting my butt kicked!
After downloading the game and reviewing it, I'll have to begin pretty much from scratch, I don't remember much.

Sounds good to me. I play Tiller's game too, but it takes forever. This game is at Brigade level. I think the reason it is not as popular is that the players want to get right to it whereas in WBTS leadership, supplies, maneuver, and production all play major roles. Historical leaders, human production, and fog of war. Set up a game and send me your move. South is easier side to play to get your feet on the ground. Regards, Field Lt. R. Longmire, 7th Brigade, 3rd Division 3rd Corps, Army of Tennessee

Sir,

Great, give me a little time to review and I'll send you a turn. Not sure what side I'd like, why do you think rebs are easier?

The south has interior lines which helps with defense and supply. The south starts with most of the great leaders. And the south has General R.E.Lee who as an Army Commander is deadly. Plus, fog of war favors the south allowing them to shift forces out of view of the union. After playing this game for years, I have concluded that with even players, the south has a slight edge.

I appreciate your comments! I do understand the initial inherent strengths of the Rebs, but I'd expect better game play would be needed to defeat the Yanks.

Looking at the game over the last day I realize that I'd really have to start from scratch and I'm not sure I'd give you any challenge. My interest is piqued, though and I will start studying the mechanics. If you'd rather try and find someone else I'd understand, but I'm okay taking a bashing in the learning curve if you don't mind the time.
