The Young American strides into the tavern, a solemn look on his face. He reaches into his coat, and pulls out a Royal Tax Statement. Carefully, he counts out the coins to equal his tax debt, and ties them into a leather coinpurse, which he then ties on his belt, throwing the tax bill into the fireplace.

"If you want the money, I'll be on Bunker Hill..."

Ernie,

Um, if stomping my army into little pieces, and scattering the remains across northern Italy qualifies as "seeing" then, yeah you did...

Taxes! Taxes! Taxes!

I believe some lines from a History Channel presentation of the American Revolution described it the best

Guest in th show: "With the British taxes, an average American would pay only a $1.50 a year. In Britian the taxes were 25 times higher. So the Parliament wasn't particularly impressed when the Americans were screaming "You cant tax us. You cant tax us!"

Narrator: "Ater all, Mother England would tax as she pleased. And her colonies would behave......... and pay."

We do want the money sir, and I will meet you on top of Bunker (and Breed's) Hill to duly collect it. I do wish you had not burned your tax bill though, it's so, so...provincial of you! Please send your terms of engagement.

The Young American staggers back into the Tavern. His uniform spattered with mud and worse, his head wrapped in a bloody bandage.

With a deep sigh, he takes the coinpurse off of his belt, and hands over the contents, counting them off as he puts them on the table. Yes.. 1...2...3 shillings, yes, that's correct. Very Good.

As he sits down to drown his sorrows in a Mt Dew, he reflects that his battle at Bunker Hill did not go as he might have hoped. However, he was at least a bit gratified that it took one of the highest ranked, and most ruthless of the British Tax Collectors to get his money.

After a moment though, he reflected with a small smile, there is always next months taxes.

[I wish to thank Gen Natta for the game. It was alot of fun, even if he did a pretty good job of slapping me about, but from his reputation, I rather expected it.

On the other hand, that now means that I have a spot open for another 1776 game. Just one though, at least till after Christmas. Any redcoats interested?]

I have resupplied my snuff box, my wig powder and have an openning for 1776. Lets do a balanced scenario, like B'wine (a), Camden (a) or we could do Rhode Island!
