Post subject: | New medals awarded - Colonials taking the lead |
Gentlemen, I have the honor to announce that the following medals have been awarded: For the Colonial side: Col. Gary Cope: Battlefield Completion Medal Maj. David O'Connor: Valley Forge Maj. Al Amos: First Saratoga Capt. William Rodes: Bunker Hill; Special Battlefield Medal Capt. Mike Cox: Yorktown Lt. Dwight Conlan: Bunker Hill Lt. Brett Schulte: Bunker Hill Ens. Gene Nix: Bladensburg For the British side: Col. Ernie Sands: Battlefield Completion Medal Maj. D.S. Walter: Brandywine Ens. Richard White: Germantown; Lundy's Lane Sgt. Sasa Jencic: Germantown; Brandywine My congratulations for all recipients! For those interested in statistics: While both armies still have almost exactly the same number of medals, all told, it is obvious that the Colonials, who had been lagging behind for the first months of the medal program, are now more and more taking the lead. The totals for both armies are now 90 (Colonials) and 88 (British). More specifically, while the British are still winning in the Revolution, albeit by a narrow margin, the Colonials have a dramatic lead in the War of 1812, with 18 battlefield medals as compared to only 11 for the British. The British side has 4 Battlefield Completion Medals (awarded for 50 battles completed, win or lose), while Col. Cope has just today received the first one for the Colonials. However, the Colonials lead in 1776 Campaign Medals with 5, as compared to only 3 for the British (at least one for the latter is in the pipe though). No 1812 Campaign Medals have been awarded so far. For those interested in the details, there is a statistics page at the award center. Maj.
