Gentlemen, the recent awardings of the Orders of the Bath, Franklin, Washington, and Lafayette - the highest decorations the commanders-in-chief can bestow upon their officers - have made obvious the need for lower level medals with which to reward services rendered the club, short of the ones required for the abovementioned orders. Those medals have now been created and approved of by the cabinet. The requirements are as follows: Distinguished Service Medal Awarded by the Commander-in-Chief for continuous, reliable service (usually at least six months) in a minor staff position, or an outstanding single contribution to the club life, or outstanding battlefield exploits over a certain time. Awarded only once. Outstanding Service Medal Awarded by the Commander-in-Chief for continuous, reliable service (usually at least one year) in a more responsible staff or command position, or continuous outstanding contributions to the club life, or continuous outstanding battlefield exploits, or any other outstanding service short of the one required for the Orders of the Bath, Franklin, Washington, and Lafayette. for the Award Center: <font color=gold>Maj.
