Sir Natta's Fop?

Here are my explanations as to the disappearance of this most awaited and exhalted Limey <img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle> to arrive on the United Colonies shores since Samuel Adams arrived to set up his brewery.

1) Ship landed in San Francisco and was last seen doing cabaret at the local theaters (not theatres).

2) Training regime initiated by Sir Natta was too expensive. This regime required the fop to own 5 wigs and 6 fake moles. On any salary lower than a colonel in the King's Army, no one could afford to enroll in the fop academy.

3) Fop was pummeled by sailors 5 days into the voyage. Is now living in the south Pacific with Fletcher Christian.

4) Choked on his own white powder makeup during the annual fop coming out party.

Would sure like to hear the exploits and stories of Sir Natta and his fop. Kind of miss that thread in this great tavern.

It's a pity really, I instructed my warriors not to waylay his party on the way to the front. Accidents will happen.

My Dear Sgt. Gemmels,

Err, let's see if I can explain this while replying to your various demented theories.

1. "Ship landed..." No respectable fop, much less any under my tutelage, would ever set boot in a "cabaret". No sir, gentlemen of my stature and slightly below are opera afficianados only. Only in America and on the shores of that other minor power France, will you find "cabarets".

2. "Training regime too expensive..." As the training master, of course all expenses are payed out of my extremely deep pockets. I would never ask a retainee to spend his own sterling, when we have lots of colonial taxes to spread around eh?

3. "Fop was pummeled..." Sigh, you provincials! Assuming any student of mine would cross the Atlantic in a rat infested, disgusting regular Royal Navy ship! Nay Sir, aboard my own personal man-o-war are my students brought here to shatter your illusions about freedom.

4. "Choked on white powder..." Gads Sir! Again you predispose that an officer of this calibre would apply his own finery! Indeed, only manservants well versed in applying proper attire and acouterments are sought out. Should one of these commoners dare cause a cloud of powder to issue forth...well there's plenty of stout rope in His Majesty's Army to deal with that situation mind you.

The truth of the matter old boy was that your General Washington sent me a personal message begging that I not employ this new program, something about a claim that "it isn't quite cricket" or some other such nonsense. Well, being the fair and reasonable man that I am, and seeing that your little ragtag army is woefully behind in this war, I acquiesced and agreed. The young fop in question has a new role now at any rate. I've procured his services in espionage against Chief Rodes so that I can eventually catch him in a deceitful parlay with those allied to the Crown. I tell you Sir that these savages are not to be trusted!

Phil,

Hey, it was your own fault. You never did quite get the idea that "no mercy" wasn't supposed to apply to your trainees did ya? huh?
