Just wondering. What is your favorite period of History to read about overall? I sort of meander all over, but right now, Europe 1620-1750 or so seems to be my "focus" Ensign Gary McClellan 12th Virgina Light Dragoons CO, Northern Department Edited by - Gary McClellan on 05/18/2002 16:46:16 |

Heh, I must be a bit too much the eccentric generalist. While right now I"m reading a book on the War of the Austrian Succession, and have 2 on the 30 years war sitting waiting for me <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> and just got Chandler's "Art of War in the Age of Marlborough" through ILL.. I'll roam all over everywhere. Oddly, the one I usually come back to is WWI... the naval and politcs especially... but, I'll read anything from Hannibal to 1919 or so *L* Ensign Gary McClellan 12th Virgina Light Dragoons CO, Northern Department |

I'm an avid reader of military history from ancient through Napoleonics. But no gray, no blue, no olive drab, no khaki for me thank you. I guess overall, I like medieval history best...about 1000 to 1500. Phil Natta |

Take a guess. Southeast tern US early culture 1700-1830. I just love hiking old Creek hunting party trails, floating down the Tallapoosa river in a canoe. I like to read about an area then go there. Mingoe "High Head" Rodes Okla Hannali Choctaw 1812 American Army Irregulars |

Now that is a tough one. Like the good Ensign McCellan, I reckon my interests will vary upon what book comes to hand. Since I have a lot of windshield time, unabridged books on cassette are priceless, always look for something in the history dept when possible. Can't say I have a truly favorite period, but like Sir Phil, just finished one on the 1300's not too long ago. A really fascinating period of time. Nothing like the Black Death to get a story going!
