Post subject: Checkers Anyone?

Being recently forced out of the closet to admit I'm an "A type" player, anyone up for a game of checkers?

von Clausewitz crows, "I should have included him in my great checkers strategy opus, "On Checkers"!

Sun Tzu says, "Be wary of his childish style of play, it can be deceptively effective and checkers-like."

Master tactician Lt. Col. Amos of the 12th U.S. Dragoons declares, ".....the best checkers player I know!"

Well maybe we can have a nice game of checkers after a game of 1776 or 1812. Looking for Yank opponents in '76 or '12.

No takers from the Walter Brennan look-a-likes?

Grab your hunting gun and step onto the field with His Majesty's First Foot Guards. After the battle tea and crumpets will be served...by you.

I spit on your checkers board! ptooi! Real men play real games, not these sissy thing that the English dream up while they are getting drunk off of our tax monies. Normally I prefer to play "Kick the Can" but maybe I should play "Kick the Wig" instead!

Yes Mr. McClellan, I too spit on the checkerboard. And how about you Mr. Amos, will you join us in a group gomming of the checkerboard?

Now do I take your "Kick the Wig" comment as a '76 or '12 challenge accepted Mr. McClellan? I'll give you an advantage even, I won't use my wig's chin strap for the battle ok?

Phil,
You had better understand it as a challenge accepted, because that's exactly what it is.

Though, the thought hit me, what does "Foot Guards" mean. Why does Georgie need "foot guards". It's his feeble mind that needs protection, not his feet. Though, if you found the task of protecting his soft head beyond you, I suppose that protecting him from the ravages of bunions, corns and ingrown toenails to be a more realistic job.

Now, how about something in 1776.. I'm a bit loaded towards 1812 at the moment, so prefer to get "back to basics".

Dear me, you colonials are just too quaint! Not having the calibre of men in your army as that of His Majesty's, of course you wouldn't know what guard units are! Well you'll know why we're Foot Guards soon enough when you find a guard's foot firmly applied to the ample rears of your squirrel skinners and rabbit trappers.

As to a field appropriate to such a joyous occasion, are there any alternate scenarios that look good to you sir? Back to basics indeed! Any other Yankees want to prominade?
