Post subject: War in the Colonies History Quiz

Ok - this quiz is about the Colonial departure (giving credence to the British) better known to us on this side of the pond as THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION.

----------------------
If you answered A to each question you got all of the answers correct. This quiz was not meant to be totally humorous as it is sad how many folks no longer know or care about what happened in the past. Sadly our citizens forget about even the most simple things about our history (but the cherry tree is obviously not that important - I put it in to point out how trivia has dominated our current events yet the most trivial events in history are often the most remembered).
I salute those that continue to write about history, neither being overbearing with their viewpoint or overlooking the obvious in their portratying of the events. Not trying to impress their own view on folks but trying to faithfully describe the past.
A salute to historians that are honest! And a salute to those youth of today to whom the past is more than just a tree being chopped down by Atilla the Hun!

Are you sure Revolutionary War general Charles Lee was a relative of R.E. Lee? I think he was actually of Irish, not Virginia, descent, though I am not sure. Maybe you mean Light Horse Harry Lee?

Hmm... not positive, but I think Dierk is right... cause R.E. Lee's relative is always described as a "hero" and after the Monmouth fiasco...

Well, I am positive that Light Horse Harry was a relative - he was R.E.'s father. And he was a general in the ARW - a great leader of cavalry. But maybe Charles Lee, the hero of Monmouth , was a relative, too. Not sure.

RE Lee married Mary Custis, the Gr Granddaughter of Martha CUSTIS Washington. Lee held George Washington is very high regard. An interesting site with some limited info on his lineage is at:http://www.stratfordhall.org/

Charles Lee was not a member of the Richard Henry Lee line (Richard Henry Lee was grandfather of RE Lee and a patriot), but Henry Lee was the son of a British Army officer and had served, himself, in the British Army for 30 years, from the age of 14.
