After you've minced this new meat Sean, send the scraps my way please. My poodle Bartholemew prefers his meals pre-chewed (your task) and well ground up (my task). His delicate digestion you know.

Phil, you may find this 'French' cuisine rather tougher than you imagine!!

BTW - 'Bart' wouldn't happen to be sporting a rather similar hair-do to a well-known (and infamous!) English officer perchance?

Aye that's jolly good news David! Bartholemew is also very fond of pâté de foie gras, as a side dish to his usual rump of Colonial.

And you're suggesting that I and the poodle share some physical characteristics? Are you daft sir?!

Phil,

Bart's picture is up twice! Is there a reason?

Shhhh! PLEASE Al do not call him Bart! He'll get a little nibble on the seat of your breeches and it will be bloody impossible to extricate you from him.

Not quite sure of the meaning of your question though, I do say!

As the Nattily Attired One and "Bart" enter the Tavern, the 21st Infantry, catching a little well earned R&R from its resounding victory at Germantown, is camped near by. Observing the sight of the two outrageous pompadored individuals, two privates strike up a conversation.

"Great Gosh Almighty Eli, get yor butt o'er har an see dis har sight! Air I be drinking that bad rotgut agin? I dun reckon I dun seen it all, t'aint no dog!" Pvt Buck Snort of the 21st Infantry exclaims to his pard Pvt Eli Jones while rolling his eyes in disbielf.

"I'd be a watching that thar dog, Buck! I reckon he air a fisty one! He mite jest be a rolling o'er, whimpering and a leaking on ya afore a running away!" Eli joins in a pertinent observation. "N'ere dun seen a hound with sech a coat, reckon he be one of them attack dogs?" Both Privates bust out laughing at the thought. "I'd bet Ole Blue could eat him alive!"

"Tell ye Eli, Ole Blue couldn't do it." Buck replies. "He'd be afread of getting the mange! Ya see how the back legs be all full of it?"

Ensign Hopper walks by and asks what is the cause of such mirth and amusement.

"Lookie thar In-sign! Ere ye seen sech afore?" Buck asks.

The Ensign replies with wonder, "Damn! Pinch me boys! I know I'd be a sleep!" He laughs and then ponders a moment.

"Shoot, Pvt Snort, ye know t'aint nice to be a making fun of a man's dog! Ya gotta pity the poor thing. Imagine what id be like to look like that!"

All present agree that this is so.

In recognition of extreme bravery in the tavern for lapping in Private Jones's ale, for piddling on Private Snort's leg, and for tearing a sizeable hole in Lt. Col. Amos's breeches, His Majesty's 1st Foot Guards have adopted Bartholemew as regimental mascot and have comissioned a new flag in his honour.
Huzzah!

Does that mean that you no longer lead the First Foot Guards but in stead the Prince Regent's Pet Poodles?

Well Lt. McClellan, yes and no. You see I issue my commands to Bartholemew, who then BARKS out the orders better than any crusty old sergeant ever could. Should I fall on the field of battle, Bartholemew knows what to do, thereby assuring England of yet another glorious victory "doggie style". Egad, did I say that??
