Was about time ... http://www.home.datacomm.ch/dierk.walte ... /index.htm ... btw, does anyone have a good picture of a British general officers' epaulette (or however you call those things that look like knitted golden panholders attached to the shoulders )? Colonel D.S. Thanks, Ernie - some great websites. No panholders though. Colonel D.S. Walter O.S.M. Commanding The King's Own (4th) Regiment of Foot Aide-de-camp, Royal North American Corps |

True! But, sometimes sites can lead to others. I did a quick search and found these in about 5 minutes of checking. Some interesting stuff that I went back and read. Especially about the uniforms and the influences of British uniforms and customs on the American forces. Ernie Sands BGen, 3rd East Kent,CCC President, Colonial Camp Club Col,1 Konig,VIII,AdR LtGen,CO XXIII Corps AoO Sch,183Inf,VIII,PzC Pvt B Co, 3/3-MBC |

True. They lead to some very interesting re-enactment sites &c. But unfortunately, general officer's dress and insignia is nowhere covered in any detail. It must be due to re-enactors usually being company officers, NCOs, and enlisted. There is every detail on how a corporal was dressed and equipped, but few such detail for field officers, and nothing for general officers. Does anyone maybe own the Osprey book on "Wellington's Generals"? Colonel D.S. Walter O.S.M. I keep playing around with the site ... how boring to have only one epaulette! And what about a sash ... Colonel D.S. Walter O.S.M.
