At the outbreak of The War of 1812 the United States had a total population of about 7,700,000 people. The current population of New York, New York is 7,497,479. Can you imangine all the people in the US (from 1812) living in NYC? Even more than that, can you imagine present day NYC having an army of 11,744 men and a navy with 20 vessels? Lt. Col.
