To all members, Unlike theblitz.com wargaming club it seems to me the CCC is only a public forum for folks that do not like to do battle. On a number of occaisions I have posted challenges in regards to starting a battle I have had a total of two offers of battle. If the same challenges where made at the blitz.com I could not take up all of the offers. So henceforth I resign.[xx(] |

Any time you want a game, let me know. It would be a maneuver, but... |

Sorry to hear this Sir. [V] The club has been sort of quiet for a while now, it seems to go in phases. I'll place you on the British Inactive list, but hope you'll reconsider. You'll retain your points for one month before being placed on the Removed list and losing all points and rank. [:(] By way of a weak explanation though, a lot of players contact each other via email, and some have "regular" opponents whereby we never hear or know of their challenges and games. Generally there's more going on under the surface than appears here on this board. As a means to hopefully rectify this situation, with cabinet approval already being obtained, I'm beginning a recruiting program this week where I'll be singing the merits of the CCC to various online gaming clubs, message boards, forums, etc. (Don't fret Rebs, along with offering the King's shilling, I'll also be mentioning a certain "fight for freedom" (gag) so that it'll be a totally bi-partisan effort as a CCC cabinet member.) I'm hoping to pull in some new recruits for both sides by these means. [:D] I know a CCC automated challenge board has been briefly discussed in the past and rejected as not needed in our particular case, maybe we should take another look at this option though. Dare I say also that the club could use a shot of adrenaline by way of a new game to play, of which there have been rumors of. As the good General said, much going on underneath the forum. Campaiugns and regular opponeents keeping a lot of the Colonials busy. I see Famous Amos and Malone's Celts have stepped forward, and by the smell I can tell Morgan is looking for another game.... |

Philip, I hope you change your mind. Things have been a little slow lately. Some members seem to prefer a direct challenge through e-mail. Try that. Grab a name of a likely looking victim from the roster, and send them a note. I do that a lot. Good Luck. |

I totally fail to comprehend this turn of events. First, I played Phil and enjoyed our game. In this case it was Eutaw Springs and I won handily but regardless I enjoyed Phil's emails which were back to me sometimes within an hour of getting a file. If he had been beating me it wouldnt have been any different. I publically praised his play and only for some timing problem he would have scalped me proper. Second, Ernie and Pat Schwartz can attest - we had a MP game scheduled to start soon. I got Ernie to pair up with Phil thinking that they would have a good time together as a team. It was not the idea of a killer combo or someone that I could beat easily. It was the idea that both of them (I thought) would enjoy each other's company. I have been really busy this week but hey, it is raining here, great gaming weather and the PC will be active this weekend. Was really hoping to play a new MP game (HINT - Ernie now needs a teammate guys). Third, dont abandon ship over what OTHER folks do or dont do. Stay with the club and just enjoy the pace. Getting into a race for promotions or whatever (unless in fun as per Al and others) is a waste of time. Promotion leads to more duties which leads to less gaming time (though Al seems to be able to keep his usual 300 CCC games-at-a-time pace alive these days!). Lastly, I hope that Phil comes back. He was a gentleman and I really enjoyed our game from the human standpoint. My idea in playing him was not to slaughter a newbie but to meet a new member and help him get started up. Enjoy the club - pace yourself - dont let your hopes rest on others - set a reasonable goal (3-5 games at a time or thereabouts) and enjoy the other clubs as well. |
