Did anyone else see the the Great Battles installment entitled "Misfortunes of War" on the Discovery Channel? Covered the war in the north between Trenton and Saratoga. A lot of reenactment footage and a minute or two on our own Bill Peters - err - Morgan (the biggest rum drinker & brawler in Virginia - is that what they called cola sodas in the 18th century?), including a quick shot of one of Morgan's riflemen wearing industrial earplugs!

Not a bad quick history. Could have used more maps. Thew threw in quite a few myths/trivia tidbits (ie the note from a Tory to Rall found in his pocket warning of the attack across the Delaware), but enjoyable nonetheless.

Another TV recommendations on "our" wars? (ACW/1812/F&I)

There are two that I am aware of for 1812:

1812: the Forgotten War. (Little Brick Schoolhouse Productions) VHS 2hrs

1812 (Gala Films) VHS 4 hrs

These are both produced by Canadian firms, so they tend to be more kind to Britain. The first is more even and has better living history folks.
